Itinerary

For flight quotes (international and domestic), please contact our partner Exito Travel.

Before we kick off our adventure summer skiing tour in South America, you should take a day or two to adjust to local time and recover from your travels, and allow for any flight or luggage delays. You should fly into Temuco airport (ZCO).

In Chile, domestic flights are operated by 3 airline companies: LatamSky Airline and JetSmart.

We recommend staying at Best Western Ferrat Hotel in Temuco city, which is well-located with lots of restaurants and other facilities just a short walk away.

Our meeting hotel address is: Juan Reusch #445, Temuco

Official Airport Transfer

The official shuttle company at Temuco’s Airport is called TransAraucania.

They are the only authorized shuttle company at the airport, and their staff wears a blue and green uniform.
By contract with the airport, they must have available transport based in the domestic flights arriving every day.

They have a counter at the airport, right next to the automatic doors (from the baggage carrousel). They offer regular and private shuttles to Temuco at $30.000 pesos (USD $40 per vehicle).

You don’t need reservations and you can pay in Credit Card or Cash. The ATM’s is on second floor.

All their shuttle services will drop you off at the hotel or address you are staying in Temuco. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes.

Our meeting hotel address is AVENIDA ALEMANIA 945, TEMUCO.

Our local team will meet you at Dreams Araucanía Hotel in Temuco at 9am. We’ll then drive to the first resort of your ski trip: Corralco Ski Resort.

This fantastic ski resort is known for its excellent snow conditions, and is located at the foothill of an active Lonquimay volcano. This wild protected area features amazing Araucaria tree forests.

Upon arrival, we’ll proceed to the ski fit and safety training before skiing the slopes of the Lonquimay Volcano.

Accommodation: Corralco Hotel & SPA
Meals:  Lunch and welcome dinner

Get ready to enjoy the excellent slopes and unmatched snow conditions of this ski center. Corralco offers 500 acres (200 hectares) of uncrowded ski runs for all levels of ski and snowboard lovers.

Additionally, if the weather is favorable, we’ll ascend the Lonquimay volcano and reach its massive crater (2.865 meters / 9.400 feet). From the end of the top lift, it takes about 2 hours to reach the top.

Afterwards, we start skiing off-piste to the bottom of the slopes. This activity is strictly reserved for those people in strong physical condition and an advanced level of skiing.

Accommodation: Corralco Hotel & SPA
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Today, in the morning, we’ll enjoy summer skiing in Corralco Ski Resort before heading to Caviahue Ski Resort located in Argentina.

During the trip, we will enjoy the breathtaking scenery as crossing the Andes Mountains is quite a unique experience!

Accommodation: Del Sauquen Hostería
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Today we’ll ski on-piste and off-piste at Caviahue Ski Resort.

Caviahue is by far Amity’s favorite ski resort in Argentina. Snow conditions are great, and never gets crowded. It is located just on the other side of Lonquimay volcano.

The ski trails are located on the eastern slope of Copahue Volcano, and the landscape is characterized by ancient Araucaria forests, typical of the region.

At night, we’ll experience a typical Argentinean BBQ.

Accommodation: Del Sauquen Hosteria
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Get ready for a unique skiing experience in Caviahue. Our local guide will take us as high as his snowmobiles can. We’ll go deep in the Andes mountains.

Then, we’ll enjoy backcountry skiing the off-pistes of the area.

Accommodation: Del Sauquen Hosteria

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

In the morning, we will travel to Pucón, Chile’s capital of adventure tourism located at the foot of the Villarrica Volcano.

Accommodation: Antumalal Hotel & SPA
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Early morning, we will go to Pucón Ski Resort located at the base of the Villarrica Volcano (2.847 meters / 9.340 feet).

If the weather permits, we’ll hike up to the top until reaching the active crater.

Afterwards, we’ll ski off-piste all the way down.

Accommodation: Antumalal Hotel & SPA
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Today, we’ll spend all morning exploring some off-piste areas of the ski resort.

Then, we’ll drive to Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve, our last destination for summer skiing.

Upon our arrival, we will enjoy a well-deserved relaxation at the SPA.

Optional: Try to climb Villarrica volcano if weather conditions were not good the day before.

Accommodation: Nothofagus Hotel & SPA
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Today, we’ll experience one more time the fantastic adventure of climbing and skiing active volcanoes.

After an early morning breakfast, we’ll go off-road through the native forest until we reach the snow. There, a Cat-ski and snowmobiles will take us to a plateau at the skirts of Mocho-Choshuenco volcanoes.

There aren’t any ski lifts, so skinning and hiking are the only ways to reach the top of both volcanoes: Mocho (2.422 meters / 7.946 feet) and Choshuenco (2.415 meters / 7.923 feet).

Accommodation: Nothofagus Hotel & SPA
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and farewell dinner

Sadly it is time to say good bye to the Southern Volcanoes of Chile.

Transfer in the morning from Huilo-Huilo to Temuco Airport (ZCO) according to flight schedule.

End of our services.

Meals: Breakfast

Difficulty

Intermediate: You are an adventurous intermediate skier. You can ski “reds” at a good pace whatever the conditions and “easy blacks”. Difficult “blacks”, bumps or going off-piste, hmm, definitely need some work!

You will enjoy the backcountry but with the peace of mind that you are within a patrolled ski resort. Don’t worry if you are unsure of your exact level. A rough guess is good enough. We sort it all out in the resort on the first evening when you arrive.

Equipment required

No extra equipment is required for this trip other than your normal skiing equipment.

If you intend to take the options of getting to the top of the volcanoes then we recommend you bring ski touring equipment (skis with touring bindings, skins, and ski crampons). These can be hired before travel if required.

Off-piste safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe) will be provided if necessary. A backpack with carrying straps for skis is essential.

No previous ski touring experience is required.

Itinerary Modifications

Slight itinerary modifications might occur due to weather and or road conditions, or force majeure.

Weather Notes

We suggest visiting the web for current conditions in Chile and doing your own research on this topic. www.meteochile.cl/ or www.accuweather.com
