After breakfast, we’ll departure from the hotel by van (45 min.) towards the source of the Salado River. We will start our hike were rupestrian art displays many forms of expression – man through time has tried to record experiences, common elements, symbols and signs.
The description and understanding of them through the science of archaeology gives us the tools to understand. Petroglyph: an inscription or engraving on rock, fundamentally made by hand and with another hard object. These places are now in the middle of nowhere, yet once were important stops on ancient trade routes, they lay witness to the travelers, shamans and merchants of the past who converged here and left evidence of their stories.
We will follow the river’s course and along abandoned villages until we get to Cuchabrache where we will enjoy a Picnic Lunch. Afterwards we will walk uphill to the summit plateau, from where there are spectacular views of the Green valley of Catarpe and Cuchabrache contrasted by a view of the dry salt range and volcanoes in the distance. Great opportunity to experience panoramic views and enjoy the silence of this less traveled hiking route.
Return to your hotel and time to rest. We’ll eat dinner in town, followed (around 10pm) by enjoying an amazing astronomy outing. We’ll spend 2 hours that starts with an astronomy lecture in a specially equipped room, followed by a naked eye star-gazing and finally, a celestial bodies telescopic observation.
