“The first and the most important geographical condition and one that characterizes the valley is the marine influence that enters through a corridor from the pacific ocean, producing an early morning mist that later gives way to clean, clear sun days. This mist acts as a moderator of temperature, which summer does not rise above 26C or 79F favoring the optimum development of the plant although is requires careful management of the vineyard to obtain the desire maturity. The other subject for concern is the frost that burs the fruit. These frosts are cause by clear nights when the temperature drops considerably, but there are several methods which manage to control them, among them spray irrigation, propellers, helicopters, etc. All these climate conditions have meant very appropriate for producing grapes rich in color and aroma obtaining excellent wines in the end. The cold contributed by the marine influence is the ideal condition for growing white wine grapes”.
