Ski Season opens June 2016

Ski Season South America opens June 2016

Ski season in South America opens June 2016

Amity Tours is anticipating the new Ski Season in the Southern Hemisphere this year 2016 (July, August and September). We have been notified that the ski centers in The Lake & Volcano district of Chile and Argentina will be open very soon. We are expecting to have the best powder snow and weather conditions at Corralco, Villarrica and Cavihahue Ski Centers. We have designed our ski tours for beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders.

Imagine having the confidence to go exactly where you want to go at the speed you choose to go at. To be able to slow down or speed up at will, control your descent on ice, control your speed on steeper terrain, know how to cope with a fresh fall of snow, handle crowded slopes and narrow paths. Imagine how liberating it would be to move around the mountain knowing you can cope with anything that comes your way. This season you will be able to experience this and more!

Amity Tours has designed different options to enjoy the snow this coming winter. Check our Ski for Beginners  program starting on July 2016 where you will be able to improve your technique at uncrowded ski resorts (Villarrica & Corralco). Professional ski instructors will help you to experience the Southern Volcanoes that combine Araucaria, snow and mountains. If you want to experience off piste skiing during August 2016 check out the Ski Tour Chile & Argentina program. You will be able to ski at the Caviahue ski resort in Argentina, enjoy skiing and climb the Villarrica volcano and discover the Huilo Huilo biological reserve. What’s more, we also have designed a program for those who loved to be on the top of the world! Our amazing Ski Tour Chile 7 volcanoes  starting on September 2016 permits you to climb the highest summits at the Lake & Volcano district and ski on and off piste through amazing ancient Araucaria forests. We look forward to seeing you this winter 2016!

Best South American Skiing Season EVER – 2015

The 2015 Ski Season in South America will be remembered for all snow lovers, from beginners to experts skiers and snowboarders. During the month of August 2015 we not only had the best snow conditions but the perfect weather during the day, with sunny days and low winds. As result, the powder was everywhere we went: Corralco Ski Resort and Lonquimay Volcano, Caviahue Ski Resort and Copahue Volcano, Chapelco Ski Resort and Huilo Huilo Mountain Resort and its Mocho and Choshuenco Volcanoes.

We did amazing things, such us dog-sledding and snowmobiling in Caviahue, skinned up (randonee skiing) to the crater of Lonquimay volcano in Corralco, went tree skiing in Chapelco and Cat Skiing in Huilo Huilo reaching the summit of Mocho and Choshuenco volcanoes. The best backcountry skiing that I can remember since 2003 …

For as long as “El Niño” stays close to our Pacific coast, we can be sure that there will be plenty of good snow.

We invite you to join us next year starting from August and September 2016.

The Summer Skiing Season is Coming

From the Amity Tours’ main office in Pucon, we can see the golden leaves waving on the native trees. The landscape is so beautiful, the mountains are covered in all shades of golden yellow and red colors. For many Chilean people this is a bad sign, because it means the summer is almost over. But for us at Amity Tours, this can only mean two things, one: our bike tours and hiking tours are coming to the end of their season, and two: the skiing tours season is just around the corner.Continue reading

Sommer Abenteuer, Backcountry Skiing in Chile, September 2014

– Unterkunft in gemütlichen Berghütten

Summer Adventure Backcountry Skiing in Chile, September 2014

Experience the adventure of skiing on 7 active volcanoes, reaching its live craters and skiing or snowboarding off-piste.

If someone say to you that you would be standing on the top of a live Volcano looking down into the center of the earth with bubbling lava one minute, and then skiing off piste in perfect snow the next, you’d think they are crazy. Yet we offer you to experience exactly that. You might be familiar with Valle Nevado and Portillo the main Chilean ski destinations but we want to persuade you that there is a totally different side to skiing in Chile.

Corralco, Araucarias, Pucon, Huilo Huilo, Antillanca and Osorno are ski areas very few skiers have ever heard about. You are probably used to The 3 Valleys with hundreds of ski lifts stretching in every direction, but here you are going to be travelling half way around the world to ski in resorts with only one or two ski lifts! You probably think we have to be joking, but we are not.

What’s the point heading half way across the world to ski in somewhere exactly the same as your own back door. This will be a totally different type of ski experience. The scenery spectacular, the hospitality overwhelming, the skiing totally different and the opportunity to ski from the top of live volcanoes!

We are offering the ultimate Chilean skiing experience, designed for skiers from limited or no off piste experience to off piste experts. The lure of the volcanoes is overwhelming with our ultimate volcano itinerary. Climb and ski off the top of 7 Volcanoes in 12 days!

So here are ‘The 7 Volcanoes’: Lonquimay, Llaima, Villarrica, Mocho, Choshuenco, Casablanca and Osorno. If you think one volcano is the same as another, think again. Everyone is different. Different shapes, different scenery, different summits and different history.

You can ski “reds” and “blacks” whatever the conditions and at a good pace. Bumps and off-piste – not bad. You want to get to that “I can ski anything on the mountain” mode to become the best “All-Mountain Skier”. Our mountain guides and ski instructors will take you to that level. You will enjoy the backcountry in its full expression. Don’t worry if you are unsure of your exact level. A rough guess is good enough. We sort it all out in the resort on the first evening when you arrive.
